During the woodcarving workshop you will be taught by a Dogon artist, from a tribe reputed for their sculptures. You'll learn how to make a sculpture or object. You may bring your own tools or use the ones provided by the centre. It is necessary to have some earlier experience in wood carving.
At the end of the week all the carvings will be exhibited, and then you can take it home.
The beautifully carved toguna is a traditional court house, where (domestic) disputes are settled. The low roof offers sun protection, but also encourages a calming effect on the men: it keeps them seated.
